It is one of the best ways to offer if you have a picky eater. And this tasty soup can be made in 10 mins and enjoyed by the whole family. To make it a blw, I add the soup in a sippy cup while giving it to my baby.

Introducing spinach in form of puree can be hard for babies as they might not like the taste. This spinach soup has flavours in it which makes it a good experience for your baby to try and enjoy. To make a blw, add parts of soup in a sippy cup and serve it to your baby.

And if you have a picky toddler who does not like to eat much, this soup can be a good way of sneaking in all the good nutrients. Add in some toasted bread chunks and let your toddler play around and enjoy.

All you need to make this simple recipe is

  • Spinach – A generous amount of fresh spinach makes this soup healthy and tasty. I have used 2 cups of spinach in this recipe.
  • Onion – Onion adds a flavour to the soup that makes your baby like it. I use half an onion chopped.
  • Garlic – With flavour and a hidden healthy benefits, one clove of garlic is added to make this soup.
  • Butter – While making for kids, I use a generous amount of butter to saute. You can choose to use olive oil or avocado oil for vegan version.
  • Cream (optional) – A tbsp of cream makes this soup thick, rich and creamier while adding some calories to your babies diet. You can choose not to add cream if you are giving it to your baby for first time.
  • Water – As required.

Instructions to make spinach soup for kids

Here is how you make this healthy soup in a few steps:

  • Wash a bunch of spinach leaves in warm water and set aside to drain all the water.
  • In a pan, add butter to saute.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic and roast them until they are soft.
  • Add washed spinach leaves to this and roast them in butter until they are soft but hast changed the colour.
  • Add a cup of water and allow it to boil for a couple minutes.
  • Blend everything using a hand blender or a food processor until you do not see any vegetables in it.
  • Allow it to boil for couple more minutes and add more water if required.
  • Healthy spinach soup is now ready.
  • Serve it along with a spoon of cream (optional), pepper & salt (for 12 months+ babies).

  • You can choose to boil spinach instead of roasted which just adds another step but tastes exactly same. (To ensure spinach is well cooked, some moms prefer to boil spinach well).
  • You can also use a ready spinach puree if fresh spinach is not available.
