A great starting point for your baby's solid food journey is zucchini puree. Zucchini is an excellent vegetable for babies because it is low in calories, high in fiber, and packed with essential vitamins and minerals. It is also easy to digest and has a mild taste that most babies enjoy.
Wash the zucchini thoroughly, and peel it using a vegetable peeler.
Cut the zucchini into small pieces, approximately 1/2 inch in size.
Place the zucchini pieces in a small saucepan and add 1 cup of water.
Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan with a lid and let the zucchini simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the zucchini is tender.
Once the zucchini is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it cool down for a few minutes.
Transfer the zucchini and the cooking liquid to a blender or food processor.
Blend the zucchini until it forms a smooth puree. If the puree is too thick, add a little bit of water until you reach the desired consistency.
Once the puree is ready, transfer it to a container and let it cool down completely before serving it to your baby.
Notes
You can store the zucchini puree in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze it for up to 3 months.
