BLW Spinach Soup Recipe

This spinach soup recipe is a great way to introduce spinach to babies & toddlers. It is one of the best ways to offer if you have a picky eater. And this tasty soup can be made in 10 mins and enjoyed by the whole family.

Equipment

  • Food Processor or Hand Blender

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Spinach
  • 1/2 Onion (chopped)
  • 1 clove Garlic/ Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil/ Butter
  • 1 tbsp Cream (optional)
  • As Required Water

Instructions
 

  • Wash a bunch of spinach leaves in warm water and set aside to drain all the water.
  • In a pan, add butter to saute.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic and roast them until they are soft.
  • Add washed spinach leaves to this and roast them in butter until they are soft but hast changed the colour.
  • Add a cup of water and allow it to boil for a couple minutes.
  • Blend everything using a hand blender or a food processor until you do not see any vegetables in it.
  • Allow it to boil for couple more minutes and add more water if required.
  • Healthy spinach soup is now ready.
  • Serve it along with a spoon of cream (optional), pepper & salt (for 12 months+ babies).

Notes

  • You can choose to boil spinach instead of roasted which just adds another step but tastes exactly the same. (To ensure spinach is well cooked, some moms prefer to boil spinach well).
  • You can also use a ready spinach puree if fresh spinach is not available.
  • Avoid adding too much water as it dilutes the soup.
  • This soup can last for up to a week in the refrigerator.
